Mark as Play Store Kids app

If your app targets users under the age of 13 and the install region is not the USA, mark it as a Play Store Kids app. This prevents the Adtrace SDK from reading device and advertising IDs (for example gps_adid and android_id).

By default, the SDK does not treat your app as a Play Store Kids app. Call setPlayStoreKidsAppEnabled on your AdTraceConfig instance before AdTrace.onCreate().

Important

Call setPlayStoreKidsAppEnabled before you initialize the SDK. See Configuration for how to create the config.

Method signature

public void setPlayStoreKidsAppEnabled(boolean playStoreKidsAppEnabled)
ParameterTypeDescription
playStoreKidsAppEnabledbooleanPass true to mark the app as a Play Store Kids app. Pass false to mark it as a non-Kids app.

What this method does

When you mark your app as a Play Store Kids app, the SDK prevents reading device and advertising IDs (for example gps_adid and android_id).

Enable Play Store Kids mode

String appToken = "{YourAppToken}";
String environment = AdTraceConfig.ENVIRONMENT_SANDBOX;
AdTraceConfig config = new AdTraceConfig(this, appToken, environment);
config.setPlayStoreKidsAppEnabled(true);
AdTrace.onCreate(config);

Disable Play Store Kids mode

Call the same method with false if your app is no longer a Kids app:

config.setPlayStoreKidsAppEnabled(false);
Play Store policies

Review Google Play Families policies when you publish an app for children.
